La Red's Impact in El Salvador

Between the Covid-19 mandated lockdowns and two different tropical systems, Amanda and Cristobal, El Salvador has been hit hard in 2020.

Over the past 11 months, La Red has been able to support the communities of Playa El Tunco and surrounding areas with over 1,200 bags of food and necessities, 400 hot meals, 4,000 pieces of clothing, 350 mattresses and blankets, 50 Filter of Hope water filters, 3 home improvement projects, and over 600 hours of volunteer community service. Additionally, La Red was instrumental in lobbying and coordinating with Catholic Relief Services to build 150 homes, improve a similar number of houses and provide monetary relief to 350 families affected by the storms.

Although 2020 has been a very difficult year, La Red continues to move forward into the vision that God has cast to the Castellanos family. That vision includes an expansion of La Red Plaza to include a community health clinic, a daycare facility, two new classrooms, starting a home gardens program, constructing two new restroom facilities, the opening of a community market space, and expanding the learning curriculum offered to include basic finance, entrepreneurism, and technical subjects in addition to the computer skills and english classes already offered.
